RhySearch is the leading research and innovation center in Switzerland in the areas of Optical Coating, Ultra-precision Manufacturing, and the cross-cutting topic of Digital Innovation. We conduct applied research and development in cooperation with high-tech companies and other research institutions and are recognized by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SBFI) as a technology competence center of national importance. For the management and further development of a strategically important division, we are looking for, as

Head of Digital Innovation Lab (a)

an innovative and creative leader with an established network in industry and research. With your experience in the acquisition and implementation of innovation and research projects, your technological understanding, and your passion for knowledge and technology transfer, you will actively participate in the further development of the Digital Innovation Lab and contribute to sustainably strengthening the position of RhySearch as a leading technology and innovation center.

Your tasks

• Overall responsibility for the strategic, operational, and scientific leadership of the Digital Innovation Lab as well as its further development as a competence center for digitalization and data-driven innovation
• Acquisition, management, and successful implementation of research and development projects as well as expansion of cooperations with industry, research, and funding partners
• Responsibility for budget, revenue, and resource deployment of the division as well as ensuring sustainable business success
• Active participation in shaping the corporate strategy as a member of the executive management as well as responsibility for the implementation of the strategic goals in your own area
• Further development of digital competencies and innovative solutions to strengthen the technology areas Optical Coating and Characterization Lab and Ultra Precision Manufacturing Lab
• Leadership, promotion, and further development of the team as well as responsibility for recruitment and personnel development
• Establishment and maintenance of strategic partnerships with industry, universities, funding institutions, and other relevant stakeholders
• Representation of RhySearch and the Digital Innovation Lab at specialist events, conferences, and networks at home and abroad
• Participation in strategically important organizational and infrastructure projects as well as in the positioning of RhySearch as a leading technology and innovation center

Your profile

• University degree (PhD) in computer science, engineering, or a related technical or scientific discipline
• Several years of leadership and management experience in a technology, innovation, or research-oriented environment
• Proven success in the development of cooperations between research institutions and industry as well as in the establishment of sustainable networks with relevant actors from business, science, and the public sector
• Experience in the acquisition, management, or strategic further development of research, innovation, or development projects
• Entrepreneurial thinking as well as strong strategic, organizational, and communicative skills
• Leadership personality with high social competence, decisiveness, and the ability to motivate and further develop teams
• Very good German and English skills
• Willingness to travel within the region as well as occasionally beyond
