The ZHdK PreCollege is part of the Department of Music and offers nine different profiles in preparatory training for higher studies in music.

Starting from the autumn semester, as of 1 August 2027, a position as

PreCollege Lecturer Music Theory, Composition, Jazz/Pop Improvisation (m/f/d), 10-20% #

is available at the PreCollege music of the Department of Music.

We are looking for an artistically active personality, capable of teaching Jazz/Pop music theory in a differentiated, contemporary and clear manner. You hold a master's degree in theory, composition and/or performance with a specialization in composition and can justify a recognized artistic activity in the field of Jazz/Pop. You have teaching experience in the pre-university field (PreCollege or preparatory training) or are willing to qualify in university didactics. You are actively committed within the teaching staff and contribute to the development of the PreCollege music. Very good proficiency in German is required.

The position includes, at the PreCollege level, the teaching of Jazz/Pop harmony, Jazz/Pop ear training, arrangement, jazz improvisation and free improvisation. Depending on demand, you will teach other specific modules. Classes take place exclusively on weekends. Participation in various commissions is expected. The position is for an indefinite duration.
