Your contribution

• Actively contribute, as a member of the management, to the strategic development of the Office
• Direct the International Judicial Assistance management division, composed of approximately 50 employees, from a technical, financial, organizational, and personnel perspective
• Assume responsibility for international cooperation between criminal, civil, and administrative authorities as well as make principle decisions in complex judicial assistance cases
• Direct legislative projects in the field of international judicial assistance and define the further development of the legal framework
• Represent Switzerland in international organizations and negotiations as well as negotiate international treaties and other cooperation instruments
• Maintain strategic relations with national and international partner authorities as well as strengthen cross-border cooperation

What distinguishes you

• University degree in law, ideally with a lawyer's license, doctorate, or LL.M.
• Several years of management experience; proven in-depth knowledge of Swiss law and international judicial assistance constitutes a preferential qualification
• Experience in the legislative field, in international negotiations, or in collaboration with national and international authorities
• Ability to analyze complex legal and political issues, develop feasible solutions, and reconcile different interests
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills as well as diplomatic talent and political sensitivity
• Excellent active knowledge of two official languages, passive knowledge of a third, and excellent knowledge of English

The Federal Office of Justice (UFG) is the competence center of the Confederation in matters of law. It elaborates legislative projects in the sectors of public, administrative, private, and criminal law, in addition to offering advice for all legislative activities of the Confederation and collaborating with foreign authorities in matters of judicial assistance and extradition. On the international level, the UFG represents Switzerland before the European Court of Human Rights and in numerous international organizations. It manages files in a multilingual environment.
