Social Worker & Practical Instructor Residential Integration

With around 2400 employees, the Social Department of the City of Zurich commits itself daily to a social Zurich. The Supervised Residential Integration is aimed at strongly disintegrated persons who largely refuse care and offers furnished apartments as well as professional care/supervision 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The residents are substance-dependent and/or mentally ill people whose residential and social competence is not sufficient to stay in one of the existing residential integration offers.

For our team of Supervised Residential Integration at Neufrankengasse 6 in Zürich, we are looking for an experienced specialist as of December 2026. The internal job title is Psychosoziale Betreuerin.

Working hours: Shift service (07.00-16.00 / 13.00-22.00) as well as 1-2 weekend services and 3-4 on-call services per month (16.15-07.15 including overnight stay).

Tasks

• You monitor the behavior of the clients and their state of health.
• You carry out crisis interventions in medical and psychiatric emergencies and involve third parties if necessary (e.g., emergency psychiatrist, police).
• You demand a minimum level of residential and social competence, enforce the house rules, and ensure the exchange of information with the involved agencies.
• You take responsibility for the training of the interns, accompany and support them, and coordinate the cooperation with the training institution.

Profile

• Degree in Social Work FH/HF, ideally with training as a Practical Instructor
• Several years of experience in the low-threshold sector with substance-dependent and mentally impaired people
• Clear, appreciative communication and professional handling of challenging situations
• Assertiveness as well as high social and self-competence
• Enjoyment of a demanding field of work as well as willingness to perform shift, weekend, and on-call services
