University Intern in Cybersecurity

Your mission

As part of the reinforcement of our cybersecurity framework, you will participate in the implementation of a proof of concept (PoC) for a Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platform.

The objective of the internship is to demonstrate the added value of a tool allowing for the centralization of cyber risk management, security controls, and compliance monitoring with major cybersecurity frameworks.

You will work within the Cybersecurity team, in close collaboration with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).

The internship will build upon the methods, frameworks, and risk analyses already existing within the institution. The objective is not to redefine existing governance or methodologies, but to integrate them into a tool allowing for the improvement of steering, traceability, and automation of GRC activities.

Your main activities

Implementation of the GRC platform

• You participate in the installation, configuration, and setup of the platform.
• You define and structure the governance objects necessary for the PoC.
• You configure the monitoring and validation workflows.

Cyber risk management and security controls

• You take over a pilot scope of existing cyber risks.
• You integrate the risks into the GRC platform.
• You structure information related to the risks.
• You participate in improving the operational monitoring of risks.
• You identify priority controls from cybersecurity frameworks to be implemented for the pilot scope.

Automation and reporting

• You study the automation capabilities offered by the platform.
• You configure notification mechanisms, reminders, periodic reviews, action monitoring, and dashboards, and propose indicators for cybersecurity steering.
• You identify possibilities for integration with other tools in the IT ecosystem.

Analysis and recommendations

• You evaluate the strengths and limits of the platform within the context of the institution.
• You document the choices made and the identified best practices.
• You formulate recommendations for a possible generalization of the solution.

Your profile

Currently undergoing Master's level training in a computer science, cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related field.

Skills sought:

• Knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST, or CIS frameworks is an asset.
• Good capacity for analysis and data modeling.
• Mastery of office tools and Excel.
• Knowledge of automation (Python, PowerShell, or equivalent) is an advantage.
• Experience with process management, ticketing, or GRC tools is an asset.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• Proactive and seeking innovative solutions.
• Ability to synthesize and present results.
