It ensures national and international coordination in various areas of crime and creates criminal analyses and police situation reports. The BKP is also the national center of excellence for combating digital crime. The Economic Crime Department (WK) of the BKP conducts police investigations under the Code of Criminal Procedure and investigation proceedings under the direction of the Federal Prosecutor's Office (BA).
