The Schweizerische Vogelwarte is a non-profit foundation for ornithology and bird protection that combines basic research, applied research, and practical implementation under one roof. More than 170 permanent employees and 70 temporary employees are engaged in a wide variety of task areas for the benefit of birds. The "Praxisorientierte Forschung" department closes conservation-relevant ecological knowledge gaps and develops funding instruments for priority bird species and entire species communities. Are you looking for an exciting and varied, fixed-term task in a research team? To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Technical Assistant 100% from 15 September 2026 (or by arrangement) until at least the end of 2026. Your tasks • You support the analysis and evaluation of audio recordings of alpine bird species. • You research and prepare relevant specialist literature for a publication on photovoltaic systems. • You are co-responsible for the maintenance, care, and decommissioning of audio devices. • You support the team in investigations into the habitat use of songbirds in winter, mainly in the lowlands. • You work in the office and outdoors, even in wintry conditions. Your profile • Very good acoustic knowledge of alpine bird species • Good English skills as well as very good knowledge in German or French • You work independently, reliably, and in a structured manner and maintain an overview even with multiple tasks. • You communicate confidently, friendly, and appropriately to the target group with various contact persons in the field. • You possess a driving license Kat. B. • You bring experience in fieldwork in wintry conditions and enjoy being outdoors. (advantageous) • You have experience in researching and preparing literature databases.
