What you can contribute

• Develop the real estate strategy of the Swiss Army and steer the infrastructure planning of the defense domain across all sites
• Harmonize and strategically develop investment, site, and usage planning with overall military and armament planning
• Assume responsibility for real estate projects, from the definition of needs to the authorization of their implementation, and guarantee targeted use of the real estate budget
• Represent the interests of the army to armasuisse Immobilier, federal services, cantons, and political bodies, and develop decision-making bases for Parliament and the department
• Develop standards, processes, and governance in the field of real estate management; approve real estate conventions and decisions
• Lead the Real Estate domain, strengthen inter-domain collaboration, and advise the army command on all strategic real estate issues

What makes you unique

• University or high school degree in business administration, engineering, architecture, or a related discipline, supplemented by advanced training in business administration or a technical field
• Several years of leadership experience in a strategic management function, with responsibility for complex structures or large projects
• Extensive experience in real estate management, strategic planning, as well as the management of complex investment and infrastructure projects
• Excellent understanding of political, economic, and organizational interactions as well as experience in managing demanding stakeholders
• Very good knowledge of the federal administration and the DDPS; military experience is an asset
• Good active knowledge of at least a second official language and passive knowledge of a third official language

The Army Staff (EM A) supports the Chief of the Army in its activities of conducting the Defense departmental domain and ensures global military planning as well as the development of the Swiss Army as a whole. It develops the strategic bases, the development of the armed forces, and the planning of the army and armament, in accordance with political directives, and assumes tasks in the context of international security. The management, steering, and coordination of all transversal domains (personnel, finance, real estate) also fall within its competence.

The Swiss Army employs more than 9000 employees in four military professions and approximately 200 civil professions, across 110 sites throughout Switzerland. It also ensures succession by training apprentices in more than 30 trades.
