Head of Phytosanitary Inspection & Primary Plant Production Control

Job Description ## The Direction générale de l-agriculture, de la viticulture et des affaires vétérinaire (DGAV) is currently looking for a Head of Phytosanitary Inspection & Primary Plant Production Control for one of its directorates. By joining the Direction générale de l-agriculture, de la viticulture et des améliorations foncières (DAGRI), you will take responsibility for one of its six sectors. At the head of the Phytosanitary Inspection and primary plant production control pole, you will lead an entity at the heart of Vaudois crop health. You will lead a team and ensure the financial stability of your sector. You will address a future challenge by directing the cantonal strategy for the management of PFAS and other contaminants in agricultural products intended for human consumption. You will develop knowledge transfer, training, and scientific monitoring. You will represent your sector to internal and external partners. Responsibilities ## • Lead the entity and manage the human and financial resources entrusted to it. • Ensure phytosanitary surveillance and the control of primary plant production in Vaudois agriculture. • Develop and implement the PFAS action plan for agricultural holdings within the framework of the cantonal strategy (currently under development) for forever chemicals. • Develop and conduct knowledge transfer, training, as well as scientific and technical monitoring. • Represent the entity, establish and maintain collaborations with internal and external partners. Qualifications ## • University degree, EPF or HES Engineering degree, or a degree deemed equivalent; • Training in crisis management (an asset); • At least five years of experience accompanied by solid theoretical and practical knowledge in the phytosanitary and agricultural field; • At least three years of experience in leading a team; • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written; knowledge of German (an asset); • Sense of responsibility, leadership, decision-making spirit as well as analytical and synthesis skills; • Sense of diplomacy, ease in interpersonal relations and good writing skills; • Possession of a vehicle to be made available to the service for various field trips throughout the canton.
