The JVA Hindelbank is the only correctional facility for women in German-speaking Switzerland. It serves the execution of sentences and measures for women in the closed and open sectors. 107 places are available. The admitted women live within the institution in residential groups and work on weekdays in various work areas. The time in the JVA Hindelbank is intended to serve the admitted women to create prerequisites for reintegration into society, in order to lead their lives without offending and responsibly after release.

Your tasks

The Atelier produces high-quality products with the admitted women for sale on the free market. A wide variety of products are created from textiles, paper, and other raw materials. Commissioned work and small series productions are also carried out.
As an intern, you will participate, with professional support, in guiding and accompanying work with admitted women. Gradually, you will actively and independently take on various tasks according to work-agogic aspects. In our small and experienced team, you will quickly become an important team player through this.

Your profile

You are at least 24 years old and have completed vocational training. In addition, you have good manual dexterity as well as an interest in work-agogics. You are enthusiastic and structured, can guide others, and working with people with burdened biographies appeals to you. You also maintain calm and clarity in difficult and hectic situations.
Language skills: German (oral and written), foreign languages (oral) are desired.

About the Amt für Justizvollzug

The Amt für Justizvollzug (AJV) is responsible for the open and closed execution of sentences and measures for adults and juveniles within the Sicherheitsdirektion des Kantons Bern (SID), with around 1000 employees. To fulfill this task, the office has four concordat correctional facilities, four regional prisons, the detention station at the Inselspital, the detention management center, as well as probation and execution services at its disposal.
