Employee Information Bird Emergencies on Weekends

The Schweizerische Vogelwarte Sempach is a non-profit foundation for ornithology and bird protection. It monitors the native bird world, researches its way of life, and advocates for the threatened bird world. It cares for injured and orphaned birds, informs and advises the population, and operates a visitor center in Sempach. The Vogelwarte employs over 200 employees in all parts of the country. As a national competence center for ornithology and bird protection, the Schweizerische Vogelwarte provides free assistance to the public via its information service when questions regarding the bird world arise. For inquiries regarding birds in need of help, we are also available via emergency telephone on weekends and public holidays. To strengthen the team, we are looking for, starting from 1 November 2026 or by arrangement, a Employee Bird Emergencies on Weekends | 10% Your tasks • Telephone information regarding the handling of birds in need of help. • Acceptance of birds being admitted to our care station. • Support with project work. Your profile • Affinity for the topic of wild birds, for example through ornithological training or (ongoing) studies in biology, environmental sciences or veterinary medicine. • Willingness to work on weekends and public holidays. • Friendly appearance and enjoyment in dealing with people. • Resilience and composure even in hectic situations. • Fluent German as well as good listening comprehension in dialect (CH-DE), French language skills are an advantage. • Field ornithology course or experience in handling wild birds is an advantage. • Long-term commitment (3 years) desired. We offer We offer a versatile part-time position in which you can experience Swiss birds up close. The part-time position can be well combined with studies or another job.
