The Department of Surgery ensures the care of female and male patients 24h/24, both for elective and emergency cases requiring surgical intervention. It represents a center of excellence, not only Swiss, but also European in several fields and in several of its surgical specialties.- Within this department, the Service of orthopedic surgery and locomotor apparatus traumatology constitutes the most important center of this type in Switzerland. It offers cutting-edge care covering all areas of reconstructive orthopedic surgery and adult traumatology, including complex and highly specialized situations. The service performs more than 6-500 surgical interventions each year and ensures approximately 45-000 consultations. It relies on a multidisciplinary approach, high-level infrastructure, and strong involvement in university teaching and clinical research. This position is newly created and is part of the ALTER deployment which aims to ensure the compliance of work organization with the Labor Act (LTr). Job description ## As an internal medicine physician in orthopedics, with activity dedicated to peri-operative medicine, you contribute to the global care of female and male patients hospitalized in the orthopedics service. In this context, you intervene in the five units of this service—the details of which can be found via the following link-: Orthopedic surgery and locomotor apparatus traumatology. This position is specifically addressed to doctors wishing to develop their skills in internal medicine within a surgical and interdisciplinary environment. Activity is organized mainly from Monday to Friday, according to the needs and organization of the service. Under the supervision of senior physicians, you ensure the daily medical follow-up of the female and male patients entrusted to you. Your activity includes preoperative optimization, medical management during hospitalization and postoperative follow-up, as well as the prevention, identification, and treatment of peri-operative complications. You take charge of all problems encountered on the ward, including analgesia, management of anticoagulant treatments, hydro-electrolytic disorders, common biological anomalies, acute or chronic comorbidities, and the organization of the discharge project. You coordinate these managements with the orthopedics, anesthesiology, nursing, physiotherapy teams and other specialists involved. You participate in medical visits, interdisciplinary discussions, the maintenance of medical records, and the continuous improvement of the quality and safety of care. You develop your clinical reasoning by being confronted with varied, sometimes complex, peri-operative situations, while benefiting from close supervision. Within a university and multidisciplinary environment, you also participate in the supervision of trainee doctors and have access to the theoretical and practical training offered by the general internal medicine and orthopedics services. In this capacity, you pursue your postgraduate training in accordance with FMH requirements. The year completed is recognized as a postgraduate training year in orthopedics and can be taken into account in the curriculum leading to the title of FMH specialist in general internal medicine. Qualifications ## You hold a federal medical diploma or have training deemed equivalent by the Commission des professions médicales of the Federal Office of Public Health (MEBEKO) and benefit from a first experience as an internal medicine physician in internal medicine. You demonstrate a marked interest in the field of orthopedic surgery. You have perfect mastery of the French language (C1 level required) and very good written and oral expression skills. Possessing excellent communication skills in a multidisciplinary team and with patients, you are a dynamic, flexible, and committed person. Furthermore, you have demonstrated strong adaptability.
