• PhD in agricultural sciences or equivalent degree
• Ability to design and coordinate research projects
• Publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals and in specialized practice-oriented journals
• Experience in data analysis, modeling and visualization with R or Python
• Excellent communication skills with researchers and farmers
• Knowledge of two official languages and English

You wish to contribute to the development of forage cultivation in Switzerland, lead your own research projects and participate in the evaluation of forage plant varieties. We offer you an innovative research position, at the interface between the science of grassland systems and agricultural practice.
The position is for a fixed term; an extension is possible beyond this period, subject to availability.

Agroscope is the Confederation's competence center for research in the fields of agriculture and the food industry. Researchers carry out their activities at various sites in Switzerland. The headquarters is located in Berne-Liebefeld (from 2026: Posieux FR). Agroscope is attached to the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research EAER.

From the plains to the alpine pastures, the Forage Production and Grassland Systems group aims to develop sustainable management of grasslands. We generate knowledge for the use of grassland areas that combines the production of quality forage on the farm with multiple ecosystem services. To do this, we conduct research on an efficient, site-adapted mode of operation, on new temporary meadow mixtures and on the management of the plant composition of natural meadows. Knowing the ecological processes of meadows and pastures allows for the sustainable use of their resources and prepares grassland systems to face current challenges, such as climate change.
