Rotating Agricultural Workshop Manager (M/F)

Job Description ##

As part of the temporary reinforcement of our team, we are looking for a future agricultural workshop manager within the Établissements de la plaine de l'Orbe (EPO), as part of a fixed-term contract of one year. In this capacity, you will support detainees in their daily work by ensuring the replacement of permanent workshop managers within the various agricultural workshops. You will thus contribute to the continuity of activities, while ensuring compliance with production, safety, and supervision objectives.

You will transmit your knowledge to them, allowing them to develop new social and professional skills, and thus participate in promoting their reintegration. Through your commitment, you contribute to the protection of the population by ensuring the supervision and monitoring of detainees.

You will ensure the care of animals and crops, guaranteeing animal welfare as well as the strict application of the animal protection law and directives concerning the use of veterinary products. You will also be required to participate in the activities of the mill, notably the drying and storage of cereals from internal production and the preparation of feed mixtures intended for the animals on the estate.

Responsibilities ##

• Train and supervise detainees in the workshops of the agricultural estate within which you provide replacements;
• Ensure the care of animals (bovine, poultry, pigs) and crop work based on instructions from the sector manager in compliance with legal hygiene and occupational safety standards;
• Guarantee the welfare of animals and the application of directives concerning the use of veterinary products and scrupulously apply the Animal Protection Law;
• Ensure the supervision, safety, and monitoring of detainees working in the workshop and ensure the maintenance of discipline;
• Establish behavior reports and regular evaluations on the skills and acquisitions of the supervised persons and collaborate with stakeholders from different sectors (social, security, professional, etc.) to ensure adequate care of detainees.

Qualifications ##

• Holder of a CFC ideally in an agricultural trade;
• Federal certificate of detention officer or a commitment to acquire it during employment;
• Experience in the agricultural field, an asset and/or a minimum of 10 years of professional experience;
• Comfortable in managing a group, you know how to motivate teams;
• Good mental and physical aptitudes allowing you to manage sometimes difficult situations or conflicts while maintaining a distance adapted to your function;
• Ability to manage stress;
• Good pedagogical skills, strong emotional mastery and open-mindedness;
• Holder of a driver's license;
• Sense of observation, analysis and synthesis.

Our employment conditions require that you are Swiss or holder of a C permit, free of debt (an extract from the Office des poursuites must be presented during the process), and your criminal record must be clean. There is a right to consult the criminal record in application of the Federal Act on Criminal Records by the hiring authority for this function.
