ABSM (Ausbildungs- und Beratungsstelle für Migrantinnen und Migranten) has been offering German and integration courses for young adults, women with childcare, as well as early language support in our playgroup in Basel for 25 years. Our offers are supported by the cantons of Basel-Stadt and Baselland as well as various foundations. For our German and integration courses, we are looking for a course instructor.

Your main tasks

• Selection of suitable teaching material and educational resources
• Coordination of the course as well as preparing and conducting lessons according to the mission statement
• Constant self-evaluation of the applied didactic and pedagogical methods and teaching materials
• Creating learning controls to check the achieved goals, conducting interim tests as learning controls as well as the final test at the end of the course
• Maintaining attendance lists
• Creating a rough plan with content details on the subject matter and topics covered
• Forwarding information between the secretariat and course participants

Your competencies

Mandatory: Experience in adult education German as a foreign language

Advantageous: SVEB 1, "Language course instructor in the integration sector" certificate according to fide

• German as a native language or very good written and oral German skills (C2 level)
• Teaching experience in the field of foreign languages and DaF / DaZ
• Adult education competencies
• Ability to reflect on methodic-didactic competencies and the role as a course instructor
• Ability to empathize with people of different socio-cultural backgrounds, to communicate with them, to sensitize course participants to socio-cultural diversity and to promote mutual understanding
• Knowledge of one's own cultural norms and values, ability to reflect on one's own culture
• Openness and tolerance in dealing with heterogeneous values, norms and multicultural groups
• Teamwork skills, communication skills and reliability
