Natural Hazards Specialist (Focus on Hydraulic Engineering)

The Amt für Umwelt is looking for, as of 1 October 2026 or by arrangement, a/an

Your tasks

• Management of the Natural Hazards Specialist Unit
• Development, maintenance and further development of natural hazard fundamentals, in particular hazard maps, event registers, risk overviews and protection structure registers.
• Technical responsibility for hydrological and hydraulic analyses as well as the supervision and review of hydraulic engineering and surface runoff projects.
• Advising and supporting municipalities and authorities in planning and construction projects as well as in all matters concerning natural hazards.
• Participation in event and risk management, including emergency planning, event mapping, flood service and support during severe weather events.

Your profile

• Professional or university degree as an environmental engineer, civil engineer or in a related field
• Experience in processing projects in the field of hydraulic engineering and/or natural hazards (project management is an advantage)
• Proven knowledge in modeling, GIS applications and data models
• Enjoyment of interdisciplinary cooperation as well as a confident manner towards various stakeholders
• Independent, structured and solution-oriented way of working
• Proficient German (oral as well as written)
