Head of fundraising for research (m/f/d) 80 % - 100 % Eawag, the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology, is an international network research institute within the ETH domain (Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology). Eawag conducts research, training, and advisory activities to achieve the dual objective of meeting direct human water needs and preserving the function and integrity of aquatic ecosystems. In order to sustainably strengthen its research, its infrastructure, and its strategic initiatives, Eawag is developing its institutional fundraising activities. As part of this process and the development of long-term partnerships with foundations and other funding bodies, we are looking for a committed person for the position of: Head of fundraising for research (m/f/d) 80 % - 100 % Would you like to contribute to the development of the fundraising activities of an internationally renowned environmental research institute? As an institute of the ETH domain, Eawag offers a unique opportunity to develop and structure institutional fundraising in a collaborative, meaningful, and future-oriented environment. In this role, you will identify the most relevant funding opportunities and develop sustainable partnerships with foundations, institutional funding bodies, philanthropic partners, as well as a targeted number of major donors. In close collaboration with researchers, the Management, and the Communication department, you will develop convincing funding proposals that highlight the scientific assets and strategic objectives of Eawag in a clear and attractive manner for funding partners. This position offers you a high degree of responsibility and autonomy, as well as the opportunity to actively contribute to the development of Eawag's fundraising activities and strategic partnerships. Your missions Conduct strategic monitoring, analyze and identify potential funding partners, particularly foundations and major private donors. Evaluate research projects with regard to their philanthropic and institutional funding potential. Collaborate closely with researchers to develop funding dossiers adapted to different target audiences, including funding cases, funding requests, and progress reports. Develop and maintain long-term relationships with funding partners and donors, contribute to the acquisition of new partners, and ensure the follow-up of partnerships throughout the funding cycle. Manage administrative processes related to fundraising, including funding contracts, payment monitoring, and data management in the CRM system. In close collaboration with the Communication department, plan and coordinate visits and events intended for current and potential funding partners, and produce specific fundraising content for Eawag's various communication channels. Your qualifications You have at least five years of professional experience in the field of fundraising, ideally in fundraising with foundations, institutional bodies, or major donors. You have demonstrated your ability to develop convincing funding requests as well as to develop and maintain sustainable funding partnerships. You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a strong sense of service. You know how to establish relationships of trust with internal and external stakeholders and collaborate effectively with different research groups. You work in a structured and autonomous manner and possess excellent organizational skills. You demonstrate a strong interest in scientific themes, particularly in the field of environmental research; experience in the fields of research, higher education, environmental sustainability, or health is an asset. You are comfortable with common digital tools, including CRM systems. You are very proficient in German or French and have good knowledge of the other language. You possess excellent English skills, allowing you to negotiate with ease.
