Special Education Teacher or Social Pedagogue

The Heilpädagogische Schule Oberaargau in Langenthal is a special public school which, commissioned by the Canton of Bern, carries out the educational mandate for students, from kindergarten age to adulthood, with a cognitive or multiple impairment. With our diverse pedagogical and therapeutic offerings, we promote the holistic and individual development of our students.

Special Education Teacher or Social Pedagogue

Workload: 32 weekly lessons plus class responsibility

Total 115%, divisible between two persons

Your task

• As a class teacher, you teach and support the students in lessons according to their individual development plans.
• In collaboration with your position partner, the therapists, the individual support teachers, the school assistants and the legal guardians, you accompany the children according to their individual resources and needs.
• Participation in the entire support team, attendance at meetings, internal further training and the implementation of progress reviews as well as the co-organization of school events and project weeks complement your diverse area of responsibility.
• We look forward to your active involvement in shaping the school development processes.

Your profile

• You have a Bachelor's degree in Social Pedagogy or Social Work or a diploma. Your interest in special education topics and practical teaching is great.
• Development planning in a special public school is your professional competence. The eye for small and large learning progress is among your strengths.
• Augmentative and alternative communication is an important component in your teaching.
• An appreciative and clear manner with the students characterizes your actions.
• Interdisciplinary cooperation in the team and in the grade level gives you joy. Patience, resilience, flexibility and a pinch of humor characterize you.
• You bring good ICT skills in Microsoft 365 and easily learn the application of our school software.
