Every person a gardener, and every gardener a changemaker.

As Tiny Farms, we advocate for resilient food production, the protection of nature and the environment, and the development of sustainable and healthy life models. Our concern is to advance an ecological, regionally anchored, and more socially just food system in which micro-farms make an important contribution. At the center of our approach is biointensive cultivation, also called "Market Gardening". The association Tiny Farms was founded in Zürich at the end of March 2024. Since then, a vibrant place has emerged on the grounds of the former Schlossgärtnerei of Schloss Teufen. Here, people learn and garden - among other things at the Tiny Farms Academy -, sharpen their view of the environment, and, as changemakers, develop new, sustainable life and work models for our food system.

Our farm - the Schloss-Gärtnerei:

  • 0,5 ha market garden operation, 1 film tunnel and 1 seedling tunnel, with cultivation tools and all usual market garden hand tools
  • Direct sowing, own cultivation and purchased young plants
  • Natural garden with cut flower cultivation
  • An equipped room for events and workshops, which also serves as an office for the team
  • Bio Suisse certified

Your tasks:
The operation is jointly managed by two people. You are responsible for the garden and the planning, your colleague has responsibility for the organization of the educational program and sales. Where you overlap, you plan together.

Your area:

  • You lead the work in the garden, create the cultivation plan and plan the working week. You also work actively in: seedling production, bed preparation, planting, care, harvesting and logistics during the entire season.
  • You organize the cultivation of vegetables as well as the care of our natural garden.
  • You ensure that the quantity and quality of the marketed vegetables are correct.
  • You develop the operation further and are responsible for the maintenance of the infrastructure.
  • You lead the practical courses of our educational offering.

Together with your colleague:

  • You coordinate cultivation and sales with each other: what grows fits what is sold.
  • You are jointly responsible for the annual planning and the budget for the farm.

Who we are looking for:

  • You have at least 3 years of practical experience in organic vegetable cultivation, ideally with a completed EFZ and in the field of Market Garden.
  • You are motivated and interested in actively helping to shape an agricultural project.
  • Your strengths include good self-organization and flexibility in dealing with changing tasks.
  • You enjoy working in an interdisciplinary team.
  • You want to pass on your knowledge on the subject of vegetable cultivation, and enjoy contact with different people.
  • Occasional events on the weekend are no problem for you.
  • You want to get involved in the long term.

What we offer:

  • The opportunity to help shape the Tiny Farms project in Switzerland
  • An existing network in Switzerland and Germany
  • An inspiring and mindful working atmosphere
  • Opportunities for independent design and further development of the location up to the independent takeover of the operation.
  • A permanent position with fair compensation in the field of Market Garden
  • Flexible working hours within the framework of the annual working time (100 % corresponds to 43,25 hours per week)

We want to build a diverse team and look forward to applications from BIPOC, queer people and FLINTA.

Please send your application and questions to Adèle - adele@tinyfarms.ch.
