About the position
The role of the Legal Advisor is to provide continuous, proactive, and diligent legal assistance and advice to all departments of the Bank while remaining practical and pragmatic in the management of legal files. To assist the Head of Legal & Compliance in all legal questions and issues in order to reduce reputational and legal risks.
The role also consists of providing assistance to the Compliance division in any cross-functional and/or complementary activity.
Key responsibilities

- Manage any civil, criminal, or administrative national or international request/inquiry or decision emanating from criminal/civil authorities, Swiss supervisory authorities, bankruptcy offices, etc.
- Draft, review, and advise on legal agreements / documentation / guarantees, particularly for the Commodity Trade Finance, Wealth Management, and Financial Institutions departments.
- Draft or review internal rules, directives, and forms, upon request, and ensure their compliance with legislative requirements.
- Perform legal analyses and research on various legal issues.
- Negotiate and finalize legal documentation with clients or their legal representatives in coordination with the front office.
- Manage client succession files.
- Monitor and control the interventions of external counsel for legal opinions/issues, banking matters, and litigation in cooperation with the relevant departments of the Bank.
- Draft minutes and reports on specific legal topics. Stay informed of new Swiss laws and regulations as well as updates related to the Bank's activities.
- Analyze and report to the Head of Legal & Compliance in a timely manner any new legal requirement or modification of existing Swiss laws and regulations related to the function and ensure their internal implementation.
- Assist the Compliance division on various topics.
- Organize, on a case-by-case basis, internal training for staff members.
- Act as a substitute for the Head of Legal & Compliance for legal matters.

- At least 8 to 10 years of proven professional experience in a similar role within the Swiss banking sector
- Knowledge and experience in Commodity Trade Finance indispensable
- Good understanding of regulatory and compliance-related topics
- Very good knowledge of the Swiss banking environment and associated rules and regulations
- Excellent analytical and writing skills
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
- Well organized with a strong sense of initiative and decision-making
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as a team spirit
