Job description ##

The Section des sciences pharmaceutiques of the Université de Genève offers a dynamic and highly stimulating research environment. For several years, it has been among the best pharmaceutical science schools worldwide and possesses a new high-quality infrastructure, allowing it to host collaborations under the best possible conditions. The Section is launching a call for applications for a position as assistant professor (with conditional tenure track) or associate professor in the field of pharmaceutical technology and biopharmacy.

The selected candidate will implement a competitive research program focused on advanced pharmaceutical technological processes and biopharmacy, notably contemporary manufacturing and development methods (for conventional drugs and new therapeutic modalities), 3D printing and bio-printing, homogenization techniques and microfluidics-based formulation strategies. Expertise in the development and application of these approaches to advance relevant in vitro and ex vivo experimental models for the evaluation of pharmaceutical performance is desirable, particularly methods that promote mechanistic understanding and predictive evaluation of drug delivery systems. Experience in integrating computer-based or artificial intelligence-based tools into these tasks would be considered a major asset, reinforcing the innovative and avant-garde character of the research program. Although the candidate's research may cover a wide range of challenges related to drug administration, an interest in the interactions between drug delivery systems and complex biological interfaces, such as mucosal tissues, would be considered an asset, as would the use of innovative polymer systems and bio-inspired formulations. A proven ability to advance knowledge in standard manufacturing processes of pharmaceutical technology will also be considered an asset.

The selected candidate will contribute to teaching in pharmaceutical technology, biopharmacy, and related disciplines, and will actively participate in interdisciplinary collaborations within the Section des sciences pharmaceutiques and across the scientific community. Candidates who demonstrate scientific creativity, rigor, strong communication skills, and the ability to implement a sustainable research program funded by external funds are sought.

This is a full-time position including teaching at bachelor, master, and post-graduate levels in pharmaceutical sciences, as well as directing university master's projects and doctoral theses. The candidate is expected to develop cutting-edge research at an international level and obtain external funding for their research. The candidate must be able to teach basic galenics and pharmaceutical technology. The candidate will also be involved in supervising students from the bachelor level in practical work (as co-responsible). He/she will also have to assume management and organizational tasks at the level of the Section des sciences pharmaceutiques and the Faculté des sciences.

Required title and skills ##

  • PhD in pharmaceutical sciences or a degree deemed equivalent.
  • History of obtaining funding from national and/or international research agencies and industry.
  • Publications in leading international journals.
  • The candidate must speak English fluently and have a desire to learn French.

Start date ##
