Researchers carry out their activities at various sites in Switzerland. The headquarters is located in Berne-Liebefeld (from 2026: Posieux FR). Agroscope is attached to the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research EAER. Additional information From the plains to the alpine pastures, the Forage Production and Grassland Systems group aims to develop sustainable management of grasslands. We generate knowledge for the use of grassland areas that combines the production of quality forage on the farm with multiple ecosystem services. To do this, we conduct research on an efficient, site-adapted mode of exploitation, on new temporary meadow mixtures, and on the management of the plant composition of natural meadows. Knowing the ecological processes of meadows and pastures allows for the sustainable use of their resources and prepares grassland systems to face current challenges, such as climate change.
