Expert Windows Client Engineer / Workplace Architect Expert Windows Client Engineer / Workplace Architect Project: Our client is looking for you as a new member of the Windows Client Engineering team for the next 1 to 2 years. Together, you will further develop the digital workplace and design a modern, secure, and cloud-capable Windows Client environment. In a large and demanding environment with around 25,000 clients, you will take on a central expert role. You understand the technical craft, can apply it in everyday life, and support the engineers with demanding questions in engineering and operations. At the same time, you advise Product Owners and Product Managers on tactical and strategic decisions (Reference number: 925160KS) Tasks: • You take on an expert or architect role in Windows Client Engineering and help shape the further development of our modern workplace technically and technologically. • You support the engineers in daily business with complex technical questions, malfunctions, analyses, concepts, and implementations. • You advise Product Owners and Product Managers on tactical and strategic questions regarding Windows Client Management, Endpoint Management, Cloud Transition, operating models, and Workplace Architecture. • You develop, operate, and optimize client management solutions. • You help design automated deployment processes for Windows Clients, especially in the context of Windows Autopilot, Enrollment, Provisioning, device configuration, and Lifecycle Management. • You analyze existing architectures, processes, as well as security, compliance, and performance settings and derive concrete recommendations for stable, secure, and scalable target images. • You contribute your profound Windows know-how to sustainably further develop patch, update, change, release, configuration, and operating processes. • You participate in the introduction of new Windows versions, features, platform components, and operating models and ensure that technical solutions are cleanly documented, traceable, and operable. • You develop scripts, automations, and smaller tools, especially with PowerShell as well as, if required, with C#, .NET, or comparable technologies. • You actively participate in IT projects, architecture and technology decisions, tests, validations, and continuous improvement measures and contribute to sustainably increasing quality, stability, and user satisfaction. Requirements: What you bring with you: • You have completed training in computer science, higher technical education, or a comparable qualification. • You bring many years of experience in Windows Client Engineering, Workplace Engineering, Endpoint Management, or in a comparable expert/architect role. • You have experience in large, complex IT environments, preferably in a corporate environment with several thousand managed clients. • You have profound and field-tested knowledge in Windows 10/11, client operating systems, policies, drivers, application deployment, patch management, client security, and lifecycle management. • You are familiar with modern deployment and operating models such as Windows Autopilot, Microsoft Entra Join, Hybrid Join, automated enrollment processes, and cloud-based client management. • You can transparently develop technical target images, decision bases, and variants and prepare them in a target-group-oriented manner for engineers, Product Owners, Product Managers, and technical leads. • You bring very good PowerShell knowledge and can implement automations in a clean, traceable, and operationally secure manner. • Knowledge of C#, .NET, or a comparable programming language is an advantage, especially for smaller tools, integrations, or utilities. • You understand security requirements in the workplace environment, for example, security baselines, compliance policies, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Conditional Access, or hardening specifications. What distinguishes you: • You understand the Windows Client not just as a technical platform, but as a central component of the digital workplace. • You are technically strong enough to provide concrete support to engineers in everyday life, and at the same time experienced enough to think strategically and advise. • You combine deep technical detailed knowledge with a good understanding of architecture, operations, security, user experience, scalability, and strategic further development. • You can prepare complex technical topics in an understandable way and effectively support Product Owners, Product Managers, and technical leads in decision-making processes. • You constructively question existing solutions, recognize technical dependencies early, and develop practical, robust, and future-proof solutions. • You enjoy working in a team, actively share your knowledge, and act as a sparring partner for engineers, technical leads, and product owners. • You have a high orientation towards quality and take responsibility for stable, traceable, and operationally viable solutions. • You have very good German and English skills. French or Italian skills are an advantage. • You are prepared to regularly perform work on test systems or laboratory environments on-site in Bern.
