Mud Engineer

We are looking for several experienced Mud Engineers to participate in a deep geothermal drilling campaign in Switzerland.

Operations will be carried out on a Super Light Rig equipped with an MPD (Managed Pressure Drilling) system.

The site will operate 24/7, with 12-hour shifts according to a 3x3 rotation.

Technical training and project familiarization of one to two weeks are planned in Switzerland in December 2026, before the operational start scheduled for January 2027.

Your main responsibilities will notably include:

• Providing on-site drilling fluid services during operations.
• Performing tests, controls, and monitoring of drilling fluid properties.
• Supervising preparation, mixing, treatment, and pumping operations of fluids during the drilling program.
• Analyzing fluid performance and formulating technical recommendations to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Monitoring fluid consumption and contributing to cost control and operational performance.
• Monitoring parameters related to Solids Control and wellbore stability.
• Collaborating closely with drilling teams, supervisors, and contracting companies.
• Ensuring compliance with project procedures, regulatory requirements, and HSE standards.
• Supporting, training, and mentoring more junior engineers when necessary.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or equivalent technical training.

Required Experience:

• Minimum 10 years of experience in drilling operations.
• Experience in Onshore Oil & Gas AND deep geothermal is mandatory.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in continental Europe.
• Solid operational experience with drilling fluids.
• Very good mastery of Solids Control systems.
• Good understanding of Wellbore Stability issues.

• Ability to analyze fluid performance and propose suitable technical solutions.
• Mastery of monitoring, treatment, and control of drilling fluid properties.
• Ability to work in coordination with drilling teams and various contractors.
• Strong sensitivity to HSE, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Ability to operate in an international and multidisciplinary environment.
• Advanced professional English is indispensable.

Required / Expected Certifications:

• IWCF Level 2
• OPITO H2S
• MIST or BOSIET
• Valid OEUK medical certificate

Experience with MPD – Managed Pressure Drilling systems will be particularly appreciated.
