The Universitätsbibliothek Zürich (UB), together with the Zentralbibliothek Zürich, ensures the library services for the Universität Zürich. Its offerings are primarily aimed at the researchers, teachers, and students of the UZH. It is also accessible to the public.

Apprenticeship for a Scientific Librarian

Tasks

During your activities, you will get to know all the essential areas of a large scientific library. Concurrently, you will complete the MAS study program in Library and Information Science from August 2027 to May 2029.

We offer:

• sound practical training in various departments of the library
• opportunities for design and independent projects within the spectrum of training content
• attendance of the MAS continuing education study program in Library and Information Science ( , coverage of 50 % of the tuition fees
• complementary external internship
• an interesting and varied task with a workplace in the center of the city of Zürich

Profile

• university degree (Bachelor, Master level, or equivalent)
• proven interest in information technologies, digital media, and current developments in science and research
• good active foreign language skills in English
• very good ability to express oneself in speech and writing
• high capacity for teamwork and cooperation, service orientation, commitment, and flexibility
• practical experience or internship in an information and documentation institution is an advantage
• experience in scientific project work and/or with scientific work in a university context is an advantage
