• Lead the International and National Affairs (INA) section personally, professionally, organizationally, and financially
• Strategically steer the national and international positioning of the BFS or Switzerland in the field of data and statistics
• Coordinate cooperation with federal offices, cantons, international organizations, and other partner institutions
• Lead and support strategic dossiers as well as negotiations at the national and international levels
• Further develop the subject areas of International Affairs, International Cooperation, National Affairs, as well as Event Management and Backoffice
• Advise the Directorate and the AK Department Management on political, institutional, and strategic issues

What makes you unique

• University degree (Master or equivalent), preferably in political science, international relations, social sciences, economics, law, or a related field
• Several years of leadership and management experience in a political, administrative, or international environment
• Proven experience in the strategic leadership and further development of complex organizational units and programs
• Strong negotiation, communication, and interest representation skills at the national and international levels
• Willingness to undertake regular business trips in Switzerland and abroad
• Active knowledge of two official languages as well as very good English skills

The Federal Statistical Office (BFS) is the national competence center for public statistics and a central actor in the Swiss data ecosystem. It produces statistical information, promotes harmonized data through national data management, and uses data science methods to further develop knowledge extraction from data. In this way, the BFS contributes to public opinion formation and makes an important contribution to modern democratic governance.

Additional information

The Federal Statistical Office actively shapes national and international data and statistics policy and represents the interests of Switzerland in central national and international bodies. As Head of Section International and National Affairs, you will lead a versatile organizational unit and, together with the Department Management for Foreign Relations and Communication (AK), shape the positioning of the BFS towards authorities, international organizations, partner institutions, and other stakeholders. You will thereby make a direct contribution to the further development of the public data and statistics system of Switzerland, to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and to the establishment of the new Department for Foreign Relations and Communication (AK), with the focus of the function being on the national coordination and networking of the BFS.
