DevOps Engineer Linux & Platform Engineering (m/f/d)

Our Linux team forms the technical backbone for the digital services of Zürcher Kantonalbank. You will operate and develop the platform with us on which central applications, services, and security solutions run - from classic Linux servers to containerized workloads on Kubernetes/OpenShift. In an environment with growing importance of Infrastructure-as-Code, automation, and cybersecurity, you will help shape a modern, highly automated infrastructure and platform landscape and contribute your expertise in Linux, automation, and software development.

Your tasks

• Responsible for the entire lifecycle of our Linux-based server and platform infrastructure, from conception and construction through implementation to operation, optimization, and continuous further development
• Participating in the design and construction of our new virtualization platform
• Implementing technical and organizational measures to reduce cyber risks in the infrastructure and platform environment
• Automating the entire server lifecycle including provisioning, patching, and decommissioning, as well as developing reusable automation services and internal APIs
• Operating and further developing our automation and orchestration tools (e.g., GitLab CI/CD, Kubernetes/OpenShift)
• Designing and implementing APIs, CLI tools, and service components to enable other teams to have easy and secure self-service access to the infrastructure
• Analyzing and resolving malfunctions as well as conducting systematic root cause analyses including sustainable remediation in the form of improvements to automation, hardening, and interfaces
• Taking on on-call duties as part of the infrastructure operation

Your profile

• Completed training in the field of computer science or equivalent qualification with a focus on systems engineering, DevOps, or software engineering
• Many years of professional experience as a DevOps Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, or Platform Engineer, ideally in a Red Hat-based environment
• Proficient handling of OpenShift or Kubernetes, as well as experience with Git, container technologies, as well as CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code
• Sound knowledge in at least one programming language such as Python or Go as well as the ability to develop maintainable code for tools, interfaces, and automations
• Experience in the design and implementation of APIs (e.g., REST, OpenAPI), ideally including authentication/authorization, logging, and monitoring
• Experience in the use of automation and configuration management frameworks such as Ansible, SaltStack, Puppet, Chef, or comparable tools
• High willingness to learn, openness to new technologies, and enjoyment of an agile and collaborative way of working
• Very good German skills, good English skills are an advantage
