As part of the Department of Education of the Canton of Zürich, the Amt für Jugend und Berufsberatung is responsible for the services of child and youth welfare as well as vocational guidance. At the center of our work are children, adolescents, and families. We advocate for them every day with a lot of passion and commitment.

Do you want to support the Foster Families department as a Research Associate in the authority team, immediately or by arrangement? The position involves a workload of 80 % and is temporary.

Together with two other employees, you are responsible for the authorization and overall supervision of foster care relationships based on the Child and Adolescent Home Act. You examine authorization applications, conduct investigations in cooperation with involved agencies such as KESB, child and youth welfare centers (kjz), or the Migration Office, and interview foster parents and foster children regarding the authorization requirements. Based on this, you decide on the granting of authorizations. In addition, you participate in the development of conceptual foundations as well as in projects and support the department management in networking, stakeholder management, and professional exchange with various interest groups.

You bring with you:

• University degree in Social Work, in a social science field, or in Law
• Several years of professional experience in child protection work and in dealing with challenging family situations, as well as sound experience with official procedures
• preferably knowledge in the field of foster care
• A stable, assertive personality with a confident appearance
• Great interest and a high level of social commitment to the interests of children, adolescents, and their families
• Strong conceptual and analytical skills and high social competence
• Proficient German in speaking and writing, combined with the ability to present complex facts precisely and comprehensibly in authorization decisions
• Affinity for IT-related questions and the use of specialist applications
• An exact and structured way of working
