The Department of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition manages, on diagnostic and non-surgical therapeutic levels, patients suffering from diseases of the digestive tract, liver, bile ducts, and pancreas, taking into account the services provided by other HUG departments. It ensures the interventional endoscopic, percutaneous, and transhepatic services of the aforementioned organs. It participates actively in the Centre des affections hépato-biliaires et pancréatiques: a reference center in Switzerland. More than 1000 cases per year are discussed there. It manages patients suffering from liver, bile duct, and pancreatic disease. These often complex files require the opinion of several specialists.

Job Description ##

In your capacity as a senior physician, you will evolve in a stimulating university environment, within a multidisciplinary team, and you will be required to participate in the clinical activities of the department of gastroenterology and hepatology.

You assist the Head of Department and the assistant physicians in the care, coordination of practical activities, clinical, therapeutic, and endoscopic interventions of the patients entrusted to you. You participate in the second-line specialty on-call system.

Demonstrating a confirmed interest in teaching, you participate in pre/post-graduate and continuous teaching in gastroenterology and hepatology.

Dynamic, flexible, and committed, you develop interdisciplinary clinical projects. You deploy and ensure research in the unit.

Qualifications ##

You hold a federal medical diploma and have obtained an FMH specialist title in gastroenterology and hepatology. If your diploma and specialization originate from a foreign country, you have obtained or must obtain recognition by the Commission des professions médicales of the Office fédéral de la santé publique (MEBEKO).

You benefit from several years of experience in gastroenterology and hepatology with recognized hyperspecialization in interventional endoscopy (ERCP, digestive stents, EMR, ESD) and diagnostic and therapeutic digestive echoendoscopy (more than 5 years independently). If you hold an advanced training diploma in interventional endoscopy and echoendoscopy, this would be an asset.

You also possess a doctoral thesis, a privat-docent, or a title deemed equivalent. You possess or must obtain a Geneva cantonal right to practice.

For non-French speaking candidates, a C1 level in French for spoken and written tests is required.

Possessing excellent communication skills in a multidisciplinary team and with patients, you are a dynamic, flexible, and committed person. Furthermore, you have demonstrated strong adaptability skills.

You demonstrate open-mindedness and possess leadership qualities allowing you to supervise and mentor interns and clinical heads as well as to support and motivate staff. You have demonstrated teaching skills and have a pronounced taste for research and innovation.

Finally, you have the ambition to promote and develop high-level clinical and academic activity in your field of specialty.
