Looking for an interesting legal internship for aspiring lawyers?

Support the legal service of the Sicherheitsdirektion in conducting appeal proceedings and gain initial professional experience under professional guidance in the diverse legal fields of the directorate (including criminal enforcement and measures, immigration law). The internship is credited as a judicial internship.

Your tasks

• Drafting of orders and appeal decisions
• Drafting of statements of opinion to higher court instances
• Legal clarifications
• Insight into legislation

Your profile

• Completed legal studies (MLaw)
• Intention to acquire the Bernese attorney or notary patent
• Interest in administrative (procedural) law
• Editorial skills
• Ability to work in a team

Sicherheitsdirektion Generalsekretariat

With its approximately 4,500 employees, the Sicherheitsdirektion (SID) of the Canton of Bern fulfills diverse and important tasks in the area of public protection and security.

The legal service in the Generalsekretariat of the SID, with its 11 employees, manages the appeal proceedings within the SID's area of responsibility. This includes in particular immigration law, criminal enforcement and measures, police law, as well as civil status matters. In addition, the legal service handles state liability claims as well as supervisory law reports, and provides legal support to the other business areas of the GS and to the director.
