Deputy Director DAGRI, Head of Strategy & Rural Economy

Job Description ## Within the Direction générale de l'agriculture, de la viticulture et des affaires vétérinaires (DGAV), you will assist the director of the Direction de l-agriculture, de la viticulture et des améliorations foncière (DAGRI) in steering Vaud's agricultural policy and the implementation of federal agricultural policy. As the director's right hand, you will orchestrate the coordination of its strategic projects and ensure their coherence. Furthermore, you will lead the rural economy sector, managing a team and developing orientations that shape the future of agriculture and the food system of the canton. This key position, at the crossroads of strategy, political decision-making, and field work, places you at the heart of the major sustainability and innovation challenges of the Vaudois agricultural world. Responsibilities ## • Assist the DAGRI director in the steering, implementation, and evaluation of cantonal and federal agricultural policy in the canton of Vaud. • Propose framework conditions that allow for supporting the agricultural and food sector towards greater robustness and autonomy in a fluctuating environment. • Ensure the cross-functional coordination of the directorate's activities and the monitoring of institutional projects, ensuring the coherence of priorities and compliance with deadlines. • Set objectives, priorities, and organization in order to guarantee the quality of services, while leading and developing your team of project managers (approx. 5 people). • Substitute for the director and represent them before federal, intercantonal, and professional bodies, as well as before the agricultural and viticultural organizations of the canton.   You will find further information in the job specification, by clicking here. Qualifications ## • Master's degree in agronomy from a federal polytechnic school or in public policy, or a title deemed equivalent. • Additional training in project management and team leadership. • Proven experience of at least five years in a management position in the agricultural, agri-food sector or in public administration. • Proficiency in German; English is an asset. • Excellent knowledge of the agricultural and food system, systemic vision and a strong sense of planning and meeting deadlines. • Proven managerial skills: leadership, decision-making spirit, analytical and synthetic capacity, delegation and stress management. • Interpersonal, writing, and oratorical skills, sense of public service and taste for networked work.
