We are looking for a Head of the Department Short-term Urban Space Enhancements as of 1. October 2026 or by arrangement. Tasks You will lead the Department Short-term Urban Space Enhancements personally, organizationally, and professionally with 5–7 employees and develop it continuously. As a member of the Traffic and Urban Space management team, you will develop the multi-year planning, prioritize ongoing tasks, topics, and projects, and further develop the professional stance of the division. With your employees, you will implement short-term urban space enhancements (neighborhood blocks, Velo-Express projects, Program 1 Stadtgrün, enhancement of meeting zones, etc.) in the sense of the Strategy Urban Space and Mobility 2040. You know and use the spheres of action as well as the procedures necessary for their implementation. You will prioritize and coordinate the short-term urban space enhancements with ongoing planning and road construction projects, as well as review and communicate their impact. You will represent the Strategy Urban Space and Mobility 2040 as well as the interests of the Tiefbauamt in various professional, political, and other exchange bodies. Profile Completed university degree in the field of transport and urban space planning or comparable training Several years of leadership experience as well as experience in integral mobility, transport, and urban space planning Leadership strength, flexible and independent way of working, as well as ability to cooperate and manage conflict Independent, structured, and analytical way of working with a desire to shape and performance orientation Proficient German in speaking and writing, strong team and communication skills, as well as enjoyment in working with politics and different interest groups We offer The opportunity to help shape the future of the largest city.
