The International Police Cooperation (IPK) directorate of fedpol ensures cooperation between the Confederation and cantons as well as with foreign partner authorities, operates the national contact points for international pursuit and information exchange (e.g. via INTERPOL, Europol and Schengen) and ensures police coordination in cross-border and international situations. The Operations and Alarm Center -- SIRENE CH is the national contact point for the exchange of police information and pursuit within the framework of the Schengen Information System (SIS). It processes police inquiries from home and abroad around the clock, coordinates their forwarding to the responsible national authorities and supports international pursuit and investigation procedures as well as the management of special situations.
