Vice Rector The PHBern awards around 800 teaching diplomas per year and is thus one of the large Pedagogical Universities of Switzerland. Equally significant is its commitment to continuing education and services for teachers and school leaders, as well as its profession-related research, development, and evaluation. As of 2027, a new position will be created at PHBern: Vice Rector With this new position, the increasing requirements in the strategic and operative leadership of the university are to be addressed. As Vice Rector, together with the Rector as well as the University Management and the University Council, you bear the responsibility for ensuring that PHBern remains future-oriented and can continue to take a pioneering role nationwide in science-based initial and continuing education for teachers. The task portfolios of the Rector and the future Vice Rector include leadership and management tasks with a significant proportion of committee work. As a member of the University Management, you will actively help shape the strategic and operative further development of PHBern. In doing so, you will work closely with other members of the University Management as well as the University Council. In your actions, you will orient yourself towards the Strategic Orientation of PHBern for the years 2026 to 2033. Your specific tasks, competencies, and responsibilities will be determined in close consultation with the Rector. You are familiar with the initial and continuing education of teachers and know the national developments in the professional field of school as well as in the higher education landscape. Several years of leadership experience at the executive management level and a doctorate are required.
