Biostatistician

Fixed-term employment for one year with the option of extension Our interdisciplinary research group investigates human metabolism and translates these findings into innovative strategies for the prevention and treatment of diabetes, obesity, and other endocrine and nutrition-related diseases. By combining innovative metabolic physiological studies with digital technologies and extensive clinical datasets from studies and routine care, we conduct innovative clinical metabolic research with the aim of driving pioneering discoveries. What to expect <br /> • Support for our clinical studies from conception to publication • Planning and evaluation of clinical studies, development of statistical analysis plans, sample size calculations, as well as the analysis of complex clinical and epidemiological datasets • Close collaboration with clinical researchers, physicians, and data scientists • Active participation in ensuring the methodological quality of our research <br /> What you bring with you <br /> • University degree (MSc or PhD) in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, or a related quantitative field • Experience in the planning and evaluation of clinical studies, particularly randomized controlled trials (RCTs) • Experience with sample size and power calculations as well as the development of statistical analysis plans (SAPs) • Sound knowledge in the analysis of observational data and longitudinal datasets • Experience with modern regression methods, mixed models, and methods for analyzing repeated measurements • Very good knowledge of R; additional experience with Python is an advantage • Experience with reproducible analysis workflows, version control (e.g., Git), and good scientific programming practice • Experience in the scientific evaluation and interpretation of complex medical data • Very good English skills, both written and spoken • Strong analytical skills, critical thinking, and high methodological diligence • Strong communication skills and enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration with clinical researchers Experience in the following areas is an advantage • Analysis of real-world data, registry data, or electronic health data • Digital biomarkers, wearable, or sensor data • Scientific writing and contribution to publications in international specialist journals • Experience in metabolic, diabetes, obesity, or nutrition research <br /> Our offer <br /> • Collaboration on diverse and impactful projects in an excellent scientific environment • Opportunity to actively develop your career in patient-oriented research • Collaboration in an interdisciplinary team of clinical researchers, physicians, data scientists, and biomedical experts • Close cooperation to tackle complex health challenges • Insight into and participation in international collaborations with a global perspective • Work location in Bern with high quality of life as well as diverse leisure and outdoor opportunities such as hiking, cycling, swimming, and winter sports <br /> Questions about the position?
