The Directorate of Police Systems and Identification (PSI) of fedpol ensures the secure operation and further development of central police information systems and databases, is responsible for the national hub for police information exchange, and provides identification and forensic services for domestic and foreign partner authorities. The Identification Documents and Central Offices Division (AZS) executes the federal legal tasks in identification documents as well as in weapons and explosives law. It includes the two central offices for weapons and explosives, the area for identification documents and E-ID, as well as the competency center for security documents and counterfeit money, and is responsible for supreme supervision and market monitoring, the issuance and further development of identification documents and E-ID solutions, as well as the analysis and combatting of misuse and forgeries.
