Head of the Cantonal Food Safety and Animal Health and Veterinary Service # Food Safety and Animal Health Service | 80-100 % | Coire ## The Food Safety and Animal Health Service is a service of the Department of Economy and Social Affairs. It ensures protection against epizootics, the enforcement of animal protection as well as the control of primary animal production in the cantons of Grisons and Glaris. To protect against unsafe and misleading food and objects for use, it also monitors the production and distribution chains of the companies concerned. We are looking for 1 July 2027 or by agreement, a head for the Food Safety and Animal Health Service (with simultaneous function as cantonal veterinarian). Your area of responsibility • Direction of the service with approximately 80 employees • Organizational, personal and financial responsibility for the service • Ensure efficient execution of laws falling under the competence of the service in the cantons of Grisons and Glaris • Internal and external communication adapted to needs • Exercise the function of cantonal veterinarian for the cantons of Grisons and Glaris • Technical responsibility for the implementation of legislation on epizootics, animal protection as well as legislation on medicines and food in the field of primary animal production and slaughter in Grisons and Glaris • Participation in various national and cantonal committees What we expect from you • Proven leadership skills and several years of professional experience in a similar position • Official federal veterinary diploma • Familiarity with the economic, rural and political conditions of Grisons • Innovative, entrepreneurial, service-oriented and solution-oriented spirit • Decision-making and assertiveness capacity • High social competence as well as flexibility, stress resistance and discretion • Excellent communication skills and stylistically secure expression in German • Good knowledge of several cantonal languages is an advantage We look forward to receiving your application online and getting to know you.
