Supervisor / Caretaker 80 - 100% # Justizvollzug und Wiedereingliederung (JuWe) is, as part of the Directorate of Justice and Home Affairs of the Canton of Zürich, responsible for the execution of sentences and measures as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1'400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of convicted individuals and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance. Die Hauptabteilung Untersuchungsgefängnisse Zürich (UGZ) - one of eight main departments of JuWe - currently operates seven prisons for investigation and security detention. Around 300 employees care for more than 700 incarcerated persons. The Gefängnis Horgen offers 51 places and is managed as a department of the Gefängnis Limmattal. To complement our team in Gefängnis Horgen, we are looking for a committed, open-minded and humorous personality starting immediately or by arrangement. Your tasks ### • You accompany, care for and occupy incarcerated persons during their investigation detention from entry to exit, taking on tasks in care, security and organization • You encounter incarcerated persons, female and male visitors professionally, respectfully and appropriately to the situation, and also act clearly and in a de-escalating manner in demanding situations • You ensure an orderly daily routine, enforce security and service regulations and handle crisis situations prudently • In the central office, you ensure the security of employees, inmates and third parties through the operation of security, monitoring and communication systems as well as by triggering the security dispositif in emergencies • You coordinate and supervise the visiting system, receive gifts and ensure the necessary checks, including X-ray checks • You take on administrative tasks such as reports and documentation and support the administration within the framework of relief representation, especially dossier management, correspondence and the management of inmate accounts Your profile ### • You encounter people in a coercive context with a professional attitude, regulated proximity and distance, as well as the ability to recognize crisis situations early and act in a de-escalating manner • You are motivated to actively contribute to the development and design of detention conditions • You are psychologically resilient and flexible for shift, night, weekend and holiday services • You have technical understanding and enjoy working with security-relevant systems • Completed commercial training (EFZ) or comparable as well as several years of professional experience, preferably in a comparable activity • Very good German language skills in speaking and writing; foreign language skills are an advantage • Proficient in using MS Office • Minimum age of 25 years and an irreproachable reputation (no relevant entries in the criminal or debt enforcement register) Our offer ### • A demanding, versatile activity in a dynamic working environment with a supportive team • Careful induction as well as diverse internal and external continuing education opportunities, e.g., the work-study training to become a specialist in corrections with a federal diploma • A centrally located place of work with good connections to public transport • Attractive employment conditions according to cantonal guidelines We look forward to applicants with a lot of initiative, openness, humor and joy in working in a dynamic operation.
