Director of Finance and Operations (100%) The Freie Gymnasium Basel (FG Basel) is a traditional private school that has been providing excellent education from kindergarten to Swiss-recognized maturity («Hausmatur») since its founding in 1889. With around 300 students and around 100 employees, our school offers a family-friendly environment with high demands on teachers and learners. As a private law association, the school is run as a non-profit organization according to entrepreneurial principles. Due to the retirement of the current holder of the position, we are looking for a Director of Finance and Operations (100%) as of September 1, 2026, or by agreement. Core tasks As a member of the management team, you will be directly subordinate to the managing director, whom you will support with your expertise in finance and accounting in operational matters and represent in case of need. In addition, you will shape and develop the strategic and operational management of our school. You will be responsible for reporting and providing information to the board of the Freies Gymnasium Basel association. Your responsibilities Personnel, organizational, and technical leadership of the Finance and Operations department, as well as the further development of an economic and efficient administration Budgeting, liquidity planning, multi-year financial framework, preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements Financial accounting, including invoicing and dunning Controlling, financial analysis, administration of key figure tools, monitoring of IKS Comprehensive personnel and salary administration Contact with customers and other contractual partners, auditing firm, broker, and insurance companies (entire social sector) Administration of the FG Basel's welfare foundation and scholarship foundation Direct supervisor of the head of the cafeteria and the head of the technical service Your profile Business training, preferably at the level of a federally certified expert in accounting and controlling Technical and experiential competence in HR management and finance/accounting (including IKS, controlling, budget, payroll accounting) Several years of management experience, preferably in a school operation Customer-oriented, professional appearance, and enjoyment of working with people.
