It exercises high supervision over the execution of sentences and measures and manages the Swiss criminal record. The Execution of sentences and measures unit is responsible for applying the federal law on the benefits of the Confederation in the field of the execution of sentences and measures. It performs various tasks in collaboration with the cantons, grants subsidies for the construction, enlargement and transformation of execution of sentences and measures establishments applicable to adults, young adults, children and adolescents. It pays operating subsidies to educational establishments and establishments for young adults recognized according to well-defined criteria. Furthermore, it allocates subsidies to the Centre suisse de compétences en matière d'exécution des sanctions pénales and to pilot projects in the fields of the execution of sentences and measures and youth welfare.
