The Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (EDA) coordinates and shapes Swiss foreign policy on behalf of the Federal Council, safeguards the country's interests and promotes Swiss values. The State Secretariat (STS) steers the development, coordination and planning of foreign policy and is responsible for reporting to the political authorities and leading the Swiss foreign network. It is responsible for implementing Switzerland's foreign policy strategy. The most important dossiers include cooperation with the United Nations (UNO), the development of relations with the European Union (EU) and security and peace policy.
