What happens in the crime thriller after the credits? Not every convicted person begins their sentence immediately in a correctional institution. In Alternative Criminal Execution, we examine whether a sentence can be served in the forms of community service or Electronic Monitoring - and accompany their implementation. In the legal auditorship, you will gain insight into the execution of sanctions from day one and the opportunity to quickly and independently apply the knowledge acquired during your studies in practice. You will conduct interviews with convicted persons, participate in decisions relevant to execution, and, after thorough induction, gradually take on your own cases. Who we are Justizvollzug und Wiedereingliederung (JuWe) is part of the Department of Justice and Home Affairs of the Canton of Zürich and employs around 1'400 women and men from diverse professions. Primarily, JuWe is responsible for the execution of court sentences and the conduct of pre-trial detention. For the employees of JuWe, the prevention of recidivism and the successful social reintegration of convicted people are of particular importance. The Bewährungs- und Vollzugsdienste (BVD) are one of seven main departments of JuWe and are responsible for the execution of prison sentences and court-ordered measures, as well as for probation assistance. They make an important contribution to crime prevention and the social integration of convicted people. The Abteilung Alternativer Strafvollzug / EM-Vollzugsstelle (ASV/EM) is responsible for criminal execution in the special forms of execution: community service (GA) and Electronic Monitoring (EM). ASV/EM is also responsible for the implementation of Electronic Monitoring in criminal and criminal procedure law, juvenile criminal law, civil law, and in the law of internal security. For the department ASV/EM, we are looking for a committed and communicative personality as a legal auditor (100%) as of 01.11.2026 or by arrangement (fixed-term for 12 months). This is your field of activity ### • After induction, you will handle your own cases in the area of serving fines and monetary penalties in GA and check applications for sentence execution in the special form of execution • To this end, you will conduct suitability assessments in personal interviews with convicted persons, subsequently deciding on admission to community service • You will independently make execution-relevant decisions, such as regarding the approval, conditions, or termination of alternative criminal execution, and independently prepare corresponding documents and decrees • You will coordinate, plan, monitor, and support the implementation of community service, mediate suitable GA placement companies, and conduct site and warning interviews • You will assist in the execution of sentences in the EM execution form and, for example, participate in interviews and the installation of EM devices • You will work with internal and external partners in an interdisciplinary environment • You will conduct research and legal analyses concerning the execution of sanctions in various legal fields and regarding data protection issues • You will take minutes at internal and external meetings or at hearings of convicted persons • You will manage files independently and reliably and perform administrative tasks in connection with case management What you bring with you ### • Master's degree in Law from a Swiss university/university of applied sciences, initial relevant internship or professional experience (e.g., at a court or an administrative authority) is an advantage • Very good written and oral communication skills in German • Good IT user skills • Independent, proactive, and organized way of working as well as resilience • High social competence and enjoyment of interdisciplinary cooperation • Unblemished reputation What is special about the position ### • Versatile and exciting activity in an interdisciplinary and innovative environment with a committed and upbeat team of 14 employees • Taking on responsibility by managing your own cases and direct client contact • Thorough introduction to the activity • Insight into the various areas of activity of JuWe • Attractive place of work directly at the Zürich-Altstetten station, possibility (after induction) to perform part of the tasks in the home office • Employment conditions according to cantonal guidelines as well as a gross salary in the LK13/AS1 • The auditorship can partially be credited towards the practical year required for the bar exam (according to the ordinance of the High Court on the aptitude test for the legal profession) Your application ### We look forward to your dossier!
