As a first-tier supplier to our renowned business partner Roche Diagnostics in Rotkreuz, we are currently looking for a motivated and dedicated Senior Test Engineer - Oximetry & Optics for a temporary assignment of 1 year, with a high probability of extension.

In this specialized role, you will perform precision physical and optical testing on mechanical oscillators, microfluidic chips, and optical sensors for next-generation Blood Gas & Electrolytes (BG/E) Analyzers. Working safely inside a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2) laboratory, you will play a crucial role in validating diagnostic performance with biological samples.

Tasks & Responsibilities ###

  • Precision Hardware Testing: Conduct complex physical testing on precision hardware, optical modules, mechanical oscillators, and microfluidic chips.
  • BSL-2 Laboratory Operations: Safely handle biological sample preparation (including whole blood preparation and adjusting hematocrit levels) within a BSL-2 environment.
  • V&V Protocol Execution: Design and run automated V&V protocols, life testing, and wear analysis in accordance with medical device regulations (FDA/MDR).
  • Rig Automation & Scripting: Build custom test fixtures using SolidWorks CAD and write Python automation scripts to capture complex test data.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with firmware, optics, and systems engineering teams to resolve defects using 5 Whys and Fishbone analyses.

Must-Haves ###

  • Degree (BSc, MSc, PhD, or HF) in Biomedical Engineering, Optics/Physics, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of hands-on testing experience in medical devices or IVD, specifically involving optical components or biological sample testing.
  • Mandatory experience and comfort working in a BSL-2 laboratory environment, handling biological fluids (whole blood) safely.
  • Proficiency in ALM systems (Codebeamer), Jira, SolidWorks CAD, and Python automation scripting.
  • Language Skills: Professional proficiency in English is required (project language). German fluency or understanding is a strong advantage.
