This department provides care to patients of all ages, children and adults, suffering from neurosurgical, neurological, ophthalmological and oto-rhino-laryngological pathologies. Care is adapted to the needs and difficulties of the patient, from the most acute sectors (intermediate care units) to the rehabilitation sectors (neurorehabilitation). The objective of the department is to lead the patient population towards the recovery of their autonomy through teaching, support and outpatient follow-up. It ensures the operation of patients as well as their support, in order to promote an early return home. In the same vein, outpatient care is also prioritized and surgical activity is optimized, to facilitate accessibility to care within a reasonable timeframe. The Service d’ophtalmologie of the HUG has been, since its creation in 1878, the leading ophthalmology hub in the canton of Geneva in terms of diagnosis, treatment of eye diseases as well as research. It relies on the most modern diagnostic methods, the most innovative techniques and minimally invasive surgical intervention methods. Its primary values are those of a university service. Specialized Ophthalmology Technician / Orthoptist / Optometrist / Optician – 80% to 100% You work at the heart of a multidisciplinary team in a university environment at the forefront of technological innovations. Within the Service d’ophtalmologie, you ensure a varied activity composed of various technical imaging and functional exploration examinations allowing for high-quality patient care (OCT, angiographies, retinographies, biometries, ultrasounds, visual fields, visual acuity measurement, refraction…). You guarantee the technical quality of the examinations and compliance with procedures. Constantly monitoring technological developments, you carry out the fine-tuning of techniques and procedures, and participate in research as well as the testing of new equipment. You take part, as needed, in teaching, development and research activities while cooperating closely with all employees of the unit and the hospital. Qualifications You hold a Swiss diploma as an orthoptist/optometrist/optician or a recognized EU diploma or hold a recognized professional training in Switzerland that corresponds to the sought profile. Having benefited from extended training in technical ophthalmological examinations is an asset. A right to practice in the canton of Geneva is indispensable. Initial professional experience in performing technical ophthalmological examinations, acquired in a hospital setting, clinic or office, is required. Expertise in performing visual fields constitutes an asset. Depending on the profile, an activity mainly dedicated to this specialty may be considered. You are comfortable using common IT tools. You have a perfect command of the French language. You possess good organizational skills and demonstrate professional rigor. You demonstrate empathy and respect towards patients as well as your colleagues thanks to your developed team spirit. You possess high stress resistance and know how to adapt according to the situation.
