About us For over 125 years, we have been committed to more humanity in the Canton of Zürich. With our employees and over 2'400 volunteers, we support people in everyday life, promote social integration and strengthen health, self-determination and education. Our work is oriented towards the Red Cross principles, the needs of the population and the social developments in the entire Canton of Zürich. Together with the public sector and partner organizations, we create reliable and impact-oriented offers that help where relief, orientation or social participation is lacking. The digital transformation is also fundamentally changing the non-profit sector. New technologies, artificial intelligence, increasing requirements for data protection and cybersecurity as well as changing expectations from donors, volunteers and stakeholders present organizations with strategic decisions with long-term impact. In order to shape these developments proactively, responsibly and in line with our humanitarian mandate, we are looking for a personality who can classify digital opportunities and risks and accompanies the board and the management with their expertise in forward-looking questions. Your impact in the board As a volunteer board member "Digital Transformation", you bring your perspective in where the course is set. Your impact is shown particularly in the following contributions: Strategic classification of technological developments with a view to opportunities, risks and long-term relevance Contributing digital perspectives to guiding decisions of the board Sparring at eye level for the management on questions related to digitalization, AI and responsible innovation Critical accompaniment of digital investments with a focus on impact, security and sustainability Connecting technological feasibility, ethical responsibility and humanitarian mandate Setting impulses and helping to shape the course for a future-oriented organization Targeted participation in working groups and projects where your digital expertise creates concrete added value for the board, management and organization What you bring Experience in accompanying or leading digital transformation processes forms the basis for this role. In addition, strategic judgment and the ability to classify complex technological topics in such a way that a mixed committee can make informed decisions. You understand why IT security, reputation protection and the trust of donors are inextricably linked in a non-profit organization and what that means for dealing with new technologies such as AI. Ethical questions are not an accessory for you, but part of the strategic assessment. You have a relevant network in the technology and digital environment, which you actively contribute. Experience in strategic committees or comparable leadership responsibility is an advantage. Equally important is the identification with the Red Cross principles and the willingness to think deeply into the context of a humanitarian, donation-funded organization. Experience in the NPO environment is welcome. However, attitude, judgment and genuine interest in our mandate are decisive.
