Coordinator: Research & Industry Integration (m/w/d)

Department of Architecture (D-ARCH) - Living Lab HIL The ETH Zürich is launching the «Living Lab HIL» pioneering research project with a direct connection to construction practice. The HIL building on the Hönggerberg campus will become a real laboratory. The building in need of renovation will be renovated and expanded. In the coming years, professorships from the departments of Architecture (D-ARCH) and Construction, Environment and Geomatics (D-BAUG) will research and plan the renovation of the HIL building in the sense of circular construction. The goal is to further develop sustainable design and construction in existing buildings and to apply it exemplarily to a real planning and construction project. The project is being coordinated and developed by the Living Lab HIL project team. To accompany the Living Lab HIL project scientifically, we are looking for a research-experienced person with expertise in the fields of architecture, sustainability, and digitalization. In this function, you will accompany both project collaborations («input projects») with participating professorships and diverse research focuses as well as the overall project on a scientific level. Your goal is to effectively transfer current research findings into practice. Additionally, you will be responsible for collaborations with industry partners and ETH spin-offs. In addition to project communication, you will coordinate scientific publications and thus make a significant contribution to the academic visibility of the Living Lab HIL. Research collaboration: Content-related and organizational support of scientific collaborations («input projects») in close coordination with the professorships Industry collaboration: Strategic interface and coordination of cooperation with industry partners and ETH spin-offs Funding partnerships: Active collaboration with the ETH Foundation to establish funding partnerships for the acquisition of funding Innovation transfer: Preparation and risk assessment of research results and industry collaborations for their integration into planning and implementation in the construction project across all project phases Scientific publications: Coordination and content-related participation in collaborative scientific publications (papers, specialist articles, and research reports) Coordination: Active internal coordination with the management of «input projects» Education: Successfully completed doctorate (Ph.D. / Dr. sc.) in the fields of architecture, civil engineering, sustainable building development, or a related discipline Research record: Proven publication performance (peer-reviewed) and experience in writing scientific texts at an international level Profile: Strong connection to both architectural/construction practice and the transfer and scale-up from academic research Network competence: Experience in cooperation with industry partners and third-party funders is an advantage; pronounced skill in interface management Soft skills: Independent, scientifically precise way of working, high moderation and communication competence in dealing with professorships and business representatives Languages: Negotiation-secure, publication-ready English and very good German skills Varied project processing at the interface of architecture, research, and practice Your workplace is in the new project office in the HIL building on the ETH Campus Hönggerberg Your position is assigned to the Living Lab HIL project team in the Department of Architecture We offer attractive working conditions in a dynamic and innovative international environment You work independently and in constant collegiate exchange with our team and a variety of internal and external partners and stakeholders We look forward to your online application with the following documents: Letter of motivation Curriculum vitae Work certificates and qualifications Further information about the Living Lab HIL project can be found on our website.
