Chief Resident with specialty title for a hand specialization - 100%

As a chief resident holding the specialist title in orthopedic surgery, you will join the hand surgery unit as part of a specialization. The unit provides 24/7 hand and wrist emergency services for the entire canton of Geneva (treatment of wounds, wrist or finger fractures, etc.) as well as dedicated consultations for various pathologies such as hand osteoarthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis, etc. In this role, you will ensure a complete clinical activity, including surgical interventions and the management of in-hospital female and male patients. You will also actively contribute to the unit's projects. You demonstrate rigor, clinical sense, and a high capacity for analysis in managing sometimes complex situations, including the management of short-term complications. Thanks to your organizational skills and your ability to prioritize, you will efficiently manage your clinical activities while responding to multiple requests (patients, telephones, correspondence, meetings). You operate in a demanding environment at the interface of care, teaching, and research. In this capacity, you will collaborate closely with the entire medico-nursing team and ensure clear, fluid, and respectful communication, both with your colleagues and with female and male patients, by adapting your discourse to their understanding. Relying on your team spirit, you demonstrate solidarity in the face of unforeseen events and high workloads. As a chief resident, you will actively participate in the supervision and training of intern doctors, adopting a mentoring posture and sharing your expertise. You will take part in the on-call shifts of the hand surgery unit. The clinical activity is part of a structured and demanding postgraduate training program aiming for specialization in hand surgery. You hold a federal medical diploma or possess training deemed equivalent by the Commission des professions médicales of the Office fédéral de la santé publique (MEBEKO). You benefit from an FMH title in orthopedic surgery or FMH in hand surgery, or you have a title deemed equivalent recognized by MEBEKO and possess the cantonal right of practice or are able to obtain it before your commencement of duties from the cantonal physician of Geneva. You justify confirmed experience in hand surgery allowing you to be autonomous and wish to specialize in hand surgery. Your previous experience is ideally carried out in a university environment with a high volume of activity. For non-French speaking persons, a C1 level in French for both spoken and written tests is required. You have excellent communication skills in a multidisciplinary team and with the clientele, you are a dynamic, flexible, committed person and demonstrate discretion. Furthermore, you have demonstrated strong adaptability. You can work both in daytime hours, and in night and weekend hours. It represents a center of excellence, not only Swiss, but also European in several fields and in several of its surgical specialties. Within this department, hand and peripheral nerve surgery is attached to the Service de chirurgie orthopédique et traumatologie de l'appareil moteur and constitutes the most important center of this type in Switzerland. It offers cutting-edge management covering all areas of reconstructive orthopedic surgery and adult traumatology, including complex and highly specialized situations. The service performs more than 6,500 surgical interventions each year and ensures approximately 45,000 consultations. It relies on a multidisciplinary approach, high-level infrastructure, and strong involvement in university teaching and clinical research.
