It develops, controls and realizes new and renovation buildings and is responsible for the management, maintenance and renovation of cantonal buildings. With around 320 employees, the Building Construction Department looks after all objects in the administrative, financial and trust assets of the canton as well as the cantonal rentals. It is responsible for the purchase and sale of cantonal properties as well as the planning and construction of public buildings in its area of responsibility. It is responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring building maintenance, including maintenance, cleaning, supply and disposal, as well as real estate management, including rental, lease and building law.
