The Kindes- and Erwachsenenschutzbehörde KESB has the task of ensuring the protection of children and adult persons. It clarifies the situation based on reports from affected persons or third parties. If adults are unable to assert their own interests and are not in a position to commission someone to do so, or if parents are not adequately providing for the well-being of their children and are not or only partially able to access the necessary support, the KESB orders suitable protective measures or support. The KESB district of Dietikon, based in the city of Dietikon, is responsible for Aesch, Birmensdorf, Dietikon, Geroldswil, Oberengstringen, Oetwil an der Limmat, Schlieren, Uitikon, Unterengstringen, Urdorf, and Weiningen, with a total of 95'000 inhabitants. The Recht & Soziales department conducts investigations and supports the authorities in their further tasks.
