Le Centre des maladies virales émergentes (CMVE) is a joint structure of the Hôpitaux universitaires de Genève (HUG) and the Faculté de médecine de l-Université de Genève (UNIGE). Its mission covers clinical expertise, the development of innovative diagnostic approaches, epidemiological surveillance, translational research, and rapid response to epidemics. The CMVE played a key role during the COVID-19 pandemic and was actively involved in other health emergencies, notably the Mpox epidemic and field missions related to Marburg and Ebola viruses. In recognition of its expertise, the Centre was designated as a WHO Collaborating Centre for epidemic and pandemic diseases in 2023 and an expert laboratory of the WHO CoViNet (coronavirus) network in 2024. In recent years, the CMVE has experienced rapid growth, significantly expanding its research portfolio, funding sources, and collaboration network, and it aims to strengthen its strategic positioning and visibility. To support this ambition, the Centre wishes to recruit a scientific coordinator. Job Description ## As part of your duties, you play a central role in supporting and coordinating the Centre's activities, particularly regarding scientific events, research collaborations, and fundraising. You actively contribute to the evolution of the CMVE towards a more visible and strategically positioned entity, by participating in the preparation of information and presentation materials, the development of grant applications, as well as the promotion of the Centre's activities, notably via its website and its various communication channels. Through your action, you strengthen the organizational structure of the Centre, its coordination capacity, and its development with its partners and stakeholders. You contribute to the definition and implementation of the CMVE's medium- and long-term strategic vision. You support fundraising activities and initiatives aimed at strengthening the Centre's visibility. You ensure efficient coordination between research teams, the Hôpitaux universitaires de Genève (HUG), l-Université de Genève (UNIGE), as well as external partners. You participate in strengthening the internal organization and ensure the smooth functioning of the Centre's activities. You also provide support for the preparation and organization of CMVE's scientific and institutional events. You facilitate the development, planning, and monitoring of research projects conducted within the Centre or in collaboration with external partners. You ensure a smooth and efficient flow of scientific and administrative information between research teams, platforms, clinical units, and institutional partners. You support the preparation and submission of research proposals as well as the organization of scientific events, particularly to national and international funding agencies. You develop and implement, in collaboration with HUG, UNIGE, and partner foundations, a fundraising strategy aimed at supporting the Centre's ambitions. You identify funding opportunities, whether in the form of grants, industrial partnerships, or philanthropic initiatives, and you coordinate the development of the corresponding application files. You establish and maintain strategic partnerships with public, private, and institutional actors active in the fields of infectious diseases, vaccinology, and epidemic preparedness. You contribute to strengthening the visibility of the CMVE at local, national, and international levels, notably through the development of the website and the management of the Centre's communication networks. You design and coordinate scientific communication activities such as events, seminars, conferences, annual reports, and institutional content. You actively participate in promoting the Centre's role in the fields of epidemic preparedness, translational research, innovation, and the development of solutions addressing public health challenges. Qualifications ## Holder of a Bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences, public health, virology, immunology, or a related field, you have solid experience in scientific coordination, complex project management, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Your background allows you to move with ease at the interface between research, academic institutions, clinical partners, and external actors. You distinguish yourself by excellent writing, communication, graphic, and interpersonal skills. You are able to synthesize complex scientific information, write high-quality strategic documents, and develop communication materials adapted to different audiences. Thanks to your sense of organization and your ability to bring together interlocutors with diverse profiles, you foster effective and constructive collaboration between the different stakeholders.
